There aren't many times throughout a grueling 162-game MLB regular season where you get amped up for a single game. Friday's matchup between the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers is an exception. 

It's a battle between the two World Series odds favorites and, really, the consensus two best teams in baseball. The Dodgers play host to the Braves in Friday's heavyweight clash, with first pitch from Dodger Stadium set for 10:10 p.m. ET.

Gavin Stone Under 4.5 strikeouts ⭐⭐⭐

Dodgers youngster Gavin Stone has had a rocky start to the 2024 campaign. He's flip-flopped between one solid start and one diabolical one. And if you like patterns, he's due for the bad one.

Stone is managing just 6.48 strikeouts per nine innings this season, and he's paired that with an atrocious 4.32 BB/9. Based on his strikeout projection for Friday's game, that season average may just dip even further.

The right-hander is projected for just 3.53 punchouts against the Braves, nearly 1 1/2 below what he'd need to clear this total. Based on these -110 odds at DraftKings, we're getting better than 36% positive expected value on this bet.

Stone has failed to make it out of the fourth inning twice this season, and the Braves could make that a trifecta of stinkers on Friday.

Will Smith Over 1.5 total bases ⭐⭐⭐

Dodgers catcher Will Smith has been crushing the ball to start the season. His 166 wRC+ represents a career-high mark, and he's already hit four home runs to go along with a .355/.395/.555 slash line.

Smith and the Dodgers have been hunting fastballs this season in an attempt to strike out less often (they own the 11th-lowest K rate in the league), and Morton's heater is lacking a bit of juice this season. His fastball average velocity is down to 93.8 mph from 94.9 last year, and he's managing his fewest strikeouts per nine innings since 2015. 

Smith's projections for Friday support him staying hot at the dish, and this price at DraftKings is especially enticing, as we're getting roughly 12.5% +EV on this bet.

Marcell Ozuna Over 1.5 total bases ⭐⭐⭐

Braves slugger Marcell Ozuna actually hasn't been as "valuable" as you'd expect for a player with the fourth-best wRC+ in the entire league. That's because he serves as Atlanta's designated-hitter, which is a big reason why he's below multiple teammates in the MVP odds.

However, we're betting on Ozuna to do what Ozuna does very often: annihilate the baseball.

The veteran has already hit nine home runs this season, and he owns a truly absurd .321/.403/.624 slash line. After two very disappointing seasons, Ozuna returned with a vengeance in 2023, and he looks like he's taken it up even one more notch this year.
